Apology

I do not presume to dedicate this section to “important” articles. Everything Aharon Dolgopolsky wrote is important – from a piece of paper containing a table of grammatical rules he invented which I suddenly gathered from the floor in a forgotten corner somewhere in his working room after his death, through his books and articles, to the Nostratic Dictionary and the various Sub-Dictionaries which emerged from it. I selected a number of items I felt a great affinity for, since I could understand them based on my enthusiastic studies of Semitic Linguistics at Tel Aviv University in the 1960s and 1970s of the previous century. My choice is not restricted to articles – it also includes a book abstract, a conference lecture, and more. I have arranged these selections from the narrow-Semitic, through the Hamito-Semitic, to the leap from this field to the Nostratic space. I have given a very modest representation to Dolgopolsky’s vast output of hundreds of articles, and sometimes have omitted citations (i.e., the source of the original publication). For this – my sincere apologies.
